ITC to review HTC, Apple ruling

The International Trade Commission said Thursday it will review a court decision that found HTC violated two Apple patents. The ITC ruling, revealed in a posting to the commission’s Web site and first reported by Bloomberg.

Apple won a preliminary ruling against HTC in July, and if the commission upholds that decision, it could have the potential of banning imports and sale of HTC products that are found to violate Apple patents.

In his analysis of the situation, patent expert and FOSS Patents blogger Florian Mueller said that Apple has a slight upper hand in the review, which he said is normal for these kinds of cases.

Apple Drops 'Jew or Not Jew' App From StoreRead

France Jewish iPhone app
Apple has removed a mobile app, called "Jew or Not Jew?", from its online App Store in France.
The app let users consult a database of celebrities and public figures to determine if they are Jewish or not. Its removal follows a complaint from a French anti-racism group that threatened to sue the iPhone and iPad maker.
The app, "Juif ou pas Juif?" in French, was selling for 0.79 euro cents ($1.08) in France until it was cut on Wednesday. SOS Racisme had argued that the app violated France's strict laws banning the compiling of people's personal details without their consent.

For a man who, according to one American tabloid, is supposed to be at death's door, Steve Jobs was in fighting form as he unveiled the iPad 2 in San Francisco. The arrival on stage of Apple's founder, who is away on sick leave, was the biggest surprise of a launch which mostly matched up to the rumours that have been around for some weeks.

For the last couple of years the question of who will succeed Steve Jobs as the boss of Apple has been a thorn in the company’s side. It is as if they do not want to publicly acknowledge that there will be a day when their iconic leader will not be at the helm in some shape or form.
